In 2008, Chase and Jennifer Utley began their public support by hosting a series of Utley All-Star Animals events to support the Pennsylvania SPCA’s Etana Fund, which helps prevent and protect against future abuse and neglect through their Humane Law Enforcement department. The department investigates an average of 17 cruelty cases each day to prosecute criminals to the fullest extent of the law. Seeing a need to not only help prosecute animal abuse criminals, but also put a stop where the abuse starts, the Utley’s formed The Utley Foundation.

Jennifer and Chase Utley

Jennifer, a lifelong animal lover, has been a fierce advocate for animal welfare in Philadelphia. Through her involvement with the Pennsylvania SPCA, Jen saw first hand, the devastating effects of animal cruelty and neglect. The Utley’s have said when their fight against animal abuse seems overwhelming they simply look at Jack – their gentle Pit Bull Terrier (and former PHILLY Pet Pages cover model!). Jack’s father was a “prize fighter” and his mother was rescued in one of the largest raids of a dog-fighting ring in Philadelphia history.

The Utley Foundation’s mission is to educate the community about the proper treatment of animals and fund non-profit organizations that are active in the fight against animal neglect, pain, and suffering. The Utley Foundation’s launch has raised awareness and much needed funds through some amazing events:

In May 2012, Chase and Jennifer celebrated the 5th Anniversary of their Utley All-Star Animals Casino Night. They have now raised over 1.3 million for The Pennsylvania SPCA with this event.

Continued success with their “Kindness to Animals” partnership and the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program.

Save a Pet at the Park is an annual event started by Jen and the Phillies Wives at Citizens Bank Park. Since 2008 the event has raised over $183,000 for The Pennsylvania SPCA and found loving homes for many homeless pets.
